On May, 15, 2007 the Onega shipyard (Vladimir Mayzoos is a general director) put into operation seventh multi-purpose dry cargo river-sea going ship of "Karelia" type with deadweight in the river/sea of 3330/5490 tons with two full-circle rudder propellers to the "Neva Shipping Company". Vessel's name is "VASILIY KLIMOV". Flag is of the Russian Federation. St. Petersburg is the port of registry. Dry cargo vessel project 005RSD03 is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB). The vessel is the second one in a series which was modified for work on heavy fuel with viscosity till 380 СЃSt (masout). It is supposed to modify for work on heavy fuel first vessels of the project. Project belongs due to MEB internal classification to the vessels which are destined for "Sormovskiy" / "Volga-Balt" type replacement. Vessel "VASILIY KLIMOV" is assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, 8'.5 and 9' ISO containers, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 classes and cargoes of category B of BC Code. The vessel is going to be used on internal waterways of the Russian Federation's European part, including Volga-Don canal and Volga-Baltic waterway, and also in sea areas according vessel's class, including operation in Baltic, North, Black, Azov, Caspian and Mediterranean Seas. Vessel's Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class is of KM LU2 IISP A3. Overall length is of 108.3 m, length between perpendiculars is of 102.2 m, breadth is of 16.5 m, depth is of 5.5 m. Deadweight is of 5490 tons when sea draught is of 4.792 m. Deadweight is of 3330 tons with the draught of 3.60 m in the river. Total capacity of three cargo holds is of 7840 m³. All holds are box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without shifting. The cargo holds' sizes are of 21.45 x 12.7 m (hold No. 1), 27.3 x 12.7 (hold No. 2) and 26.55 x 12.7 m (hold No. 3) with the height of 8.3 m. Hatch covers are of removable type (with gantry crane).Crew consists of 9 persons (11 places). Cruising speed is of 11.5 kN. Capacity of main engines is of 2 x 1020 kW. Movement and manoeuvrability of the vessel is provided by two stern full-circle rudder with variable-pitch propellers in nozzles. The drive from main engines to rudder propellers is carried out through mechanical Z-gearing. Designed vessel hull' life term is of 24 years. The ship steel of categories RSA and RSD with a yield limit of 235 MPa was accepted for basic hull constructions. The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 7.5 t/m² that allows to use a bucket grab with cargo-lifting capacity of 16 tons. Autonomy in sea is of 20 days, in river it is of 15 days. Vessel's keel was laid down on 10.05.06. She was launched on 15.05.07. It is supposed to build ten vessels of this project in total.
