Newly built dry-cargo motorship "Kozak" with deadweight of 2160 tons was put into operation

On October, 16, 2007 river-sea going dry-cargo vessel was put to her first voyage from Ilyichevsk port. Vessel's deadweight is of 2160 tons.

The vessel was put to the customer on 14.10.07. The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping issued classification and conventional documents on 30.08.07.

Vessel's name is "Kozak".

This case is unique, because vessel's keel (building number is of 04903; 19620A prj.) was laid down at Rybinsk shipyard on January, 1, 1996 (almost 12 years ago).

Uncompleted hull of the last vessel in this series was towed to the Netherlands after launching.

It was taken up a berth until 2004 when Marko Ltd Company (initiative of Aleksandr Marar) bought it.

It was difficult for Marko Ltd Company to choose particular type of fitting-out, because by that time Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB) could offer a variety of modernization types of ST type 19620 and 191 prjs. vessels:

- into dry-cargo vessel with deadweight about 2100 tons when cargo waterline draught is of 3.40 m;

- into dry-cargo vessel with deadweight of 2800 tons (several variants) when draught is of 4.10 m;

- ethylene glycol carrier/oil carrier of RST14 prj.;

- LPG prj. gas carrier of 001RSG01 type.

It was decided to choose fit out the hull into dry-cargo vessel with draught of 3.40 m, that provided reasonable correlation between cargo-carrying capacity (which can be increased) and load-carrying capacity (which doesn't change).

After fitting-out the vessel is is assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, 8'.5 and 9' ISO containers, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 classes of IMDG Code and cargoes of category B of BC Code.

The following works were carried out during modernization: sides were mounted up; the forecastle deck's height was increased; hull structures were strengthened, that allowed to increase vessel's deadweight from 1490 tons according to the original project 1960A up to 2164 tons, to increase the standard of general and local strength, to improve navigability and decrease water resistance. Modernization was carried out by Marko Ltd Company.

Planting of modern equipment and accepting new lay-out decisions concerning wheelhouse, engine-room, superstructure allowed to get modern dry-cargo vessel after fitting-out. She satisfies international requirements and standards of Classification Society Rules, convenient for crew's work and housing.

Principal particulars of the vessel (overall length is of 88.9 m, overall breadth is of 12.2 m) allow to be operated completely loaded (2020 tons) on internal Russian waterways, including Volga-Don canal, Volga-Baltic way and Belomor-Baltic way.

Capacity of two cargo holds is of 2230 m³.

All holds are box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without shifting.

The cargo holds' sizes are of 20.9x9.0x6.24 m (hold No. 1), 20.35x9.0x6.24 m (hold No. 2); that allows to transport two levels of containers with height up to 9'.

Holds are equipped with hatches of piggy back type. Timber (height up to 2.3 m) or one level of containers with maximum weight can be stowed on them.

The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 6.0 t/m².

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class is of KM LU1 IISP A3 (LU1 when d ≤ 3.0 m).

Main engines are TBD 616V12 diesels (DEUTZ firm) with capacity of 2x720 kWt with 2100 rpm (original project: 6NVDS 48A-2U diesels with capacity of 2x550 kWt).

Cruising speed is of 10.5 kn.

Heavy fuel stores are placed in double sides in area of the ER.

The dry cargo vessel electric plant due to using of variable-pitch propellers consists of two diesel generators with capacity of 100 kw each, and also diesel-generators with capacity of 59 kw and one emergency diesel-generator with capacity of 59 kw.

Total ballast tanks capacity is of 500 m³. Double side's breadth is of 1500 mm. Double bottom's height is of 1000 mm.

Crew consists of 12 persons. Autonomy is of 10 day.
