Keels of two RDB12 dry-cargo barges of 4800 t deadweight were laid down in the Samara for Petrotanker Company

On 18.04.2019 keels of two RDB12 dry-cargo barges of 4800 t deadweight (building Nos. 002 and 003) were laid down at Ship Repairing-Constructing Yard "Nefteflot" (Vladimir Prudyus is a director).

Shipping company "Petrotanker" (Saint-Petersburg) is a lessee.

A number of people took part in the solemn ceremony: governor of the Samara Region Dmitriy Azarov, chairman of the board of directors of the CJSE "Nefteflot" Sergey Feofanov, general director of the CJSE "Nefteflot" Vladimir Prudyus, general director of the Marine Engineering Bureau, professor, S.Dr., Gennadiy Egorov; director deputy of the "Kalashnikov" Concern Arcadiy Privalov, general director of the OJSE "Petrotanker" Denis Davydov, other colleagues.

As to "Portnews" agency information, governor Dmitry Azarov noted in his speech that keel laying for two barges means the beginning of a major event in the life of the region, namely revival of the shipbuilding industry.

According to the head of the Marine Engineering Bureau Gennady Egorov, Russia does not have enough production capacities to renew the river fleet; that is why the enterprises that were engaged in ship repair began to switch to shipbuilding. This is especially true for those yards that are located along the Volga River; just through this river big capacity of bulk cargo can be transported.

The chairman of the board of directors of the CJSE "Nefteflot" Sergey Feofanov told that the process of transformation from shiprepairing yard to shipbuilding one was not easy. We had to upgrade significantly the production base, buy new equipment, teach again staff and look for specialists with new competences.

However, according to his words, a few years ago "Nefteflot" felt the urgent need for shipping in shipbuilding and found support for its pans at regional authority, Trade Ministry and other structures.

"Today, the company expects that thanks to high-quality work and delivery of orders in time, it will be possible to take its rightful place in the shipbuilding market; despite the presence of other strong yards, that construct dozens of river vessels", - noted Feofanov.

The general director of the CJSE "Nefteflot" Vladimir Prudyus said that building of three barges may be considered as examination of the yard, because process of yard's transformation is in the progress; newly purchased equipment is adjusted, shipbuilding technology will be tried; pool of the contractors is formed.

Using bares' construction "Nefteflot" expects to hone operations in order to implement the program for the construction of twenty vessels (tankers and dry-cargo ones) that was signed in 2018.
