DCV25 project dry cargo vessel "Sparta" is the first to dock at Mariupol port berth N4 after the reconstruction of the hydro-technical part



According to the AMPU website, the DCV25 "Sparta" project dry cargo vessel of 10,315 tonnes deadweight was docked at the rebuilt berth N4 on 30 November 2020.
 
This is the first vessel to be handled at berth 4 after its refurbishment. The cargo handling process has already started. It is planned that the vessel will take 10,000 tonnes of wheat, which will be exported to Egypt.
 
The start-up of rebuilt berth N4 will increase the port's cargo throughput rate and reduce vessel downtime while waiting for a free berth.
 
Reconstruction of berth N4 is the first stage of a large-scale investment project to build a food cargo transhipment cluster in the port of Mariupol, which will be the most modern and powerful complex in the Azov region.
 
The China-built and modified to DCV25 design by the Marine Engineering Bureau, the 10,315-tonne "Sparta" dry cargo vessel, was put into service on 23 February 2006.
 
The vessel was originally built under the supervision of the Maritime Administration of China (ZC society) for coastal voyages between PRC ports.
 
After modernisation it received the I restricted navigation area, ice category and convention documents of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
 
Designed for the transportation of general cargo and bulk cargo, including grain, timber, rolled metal products and coal.
 
The dry cargo vessel "Sparta" after being completed according to the DCV25 project has the following characteristics:

depth - 9.20 m;
deadweight with a draught of 6.79 m - 10315 t;
three holds with a capacity of 13924 cu. m;
container capacity - 486 TEU;
main engine power - 2500 kW;
speed - 11 knots;
autonomy - 10 days;
crew - 15 persons;

Keel of the DCV25 "Sparta" was laid down on 15.06.04. She was launched on 20.09.04. She was put into service on 23.02.06.
