Results 2020:SEVENTEEN multipurpose "super-full" dry-cargo vessels of RSD59 prj. with sea/river 8144/5320 DWT have been handed over to the customer

Results of 2020 at the online conference "Philosophy of ship design". On December 3, 2020 in Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard put into operation a multipurpose dry-cargo vessel of RSD59 project with a deadweight of 8144 tons Alpha Mercury for the shipping company Alpha.

In this way:

The Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard has already built twenty-two multipurpose dry-cargo vessels of the RSD59 project, seven more are at various stages of construction, plus an option for another 11 vessels.

Oka Shipyard signed contracts for eighteen vessels of RSD59 project. Seven handed over to the customer.

The Neva Shipyard has put into operation two vessels of the RSD59 project, the third is being handed over to the customer and two more are under construction.

That is, today the total order of dry cargo vessels of the RSD59 project is 63 vessels (thirty-one built, twenty-one in operation, eleven in option).

The vessels of the RSD59 project built in 2018-2020 have no analogues in the world and are significantly better in terms of their technical and economic parameters than all the vessels available on the native market.

From the speech of Professor Gennady Egorov at the on-line conference "Philosophy of ship design" (first day):

"Undoubtedly, dry cargo vessels continue to be the driver (of the Russian - note by Gennady Egorov) of shipbuilding.

In particular, this year it was a dry cargo vessel of the RSD59 project, which was built at three shipyards in Russia.

This is Krasnoe Sormovo, in front of you just on the slide - the ship of the RSD59 project "Alfa Atlant".

By the way, this year Sormovo has put into operation ten such vessels.

Seven vessels of this project were handed over by the Oka shipyard, that is, seven more were added to the piggy bank.

And yesterday (December 22, 2020 - note by Gennady Egorov) the next ship of the RSD59 project for Astrol was launched - Astrol-3. So our colleagues continue to build.

It is clear that this year "Astrol - 3" and "Vladimir Latyshev" Krasny Sormov will not pass, this is already the acceptance program for next year.

Anyway, 10 plus 7 is 17.

Nevsky Zavod is putting into operation its third RSD59 - "Pola Gali".

Accordingly, we have three factories that build vessels of the RSD59 project.

First, it suggests that this project is selling well.

And secondly, dry cargo vessels are indeed in demand".

For your reference. The head vessel of the RSD59 series, Pola Macariya, was named one of the 2018 Significant Ships of 2018 of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).

Shipping company "Paula Rise", "Idel", "Petrotrans", "Astrol", "Alpha" are lessees.

Advantages of the RSD59 project in comparison with the best of the previously constructed dry cargo vessels of the Volga-Don Max class of the RSD49 project (by the example of m/v "Pola Fiva" with increased marine function):

• deadweight at draught of 3.60 m is 5320 t (RSD49 has 4507 t), increase is 813 t;
• deadweight at the maximum draught of 4.706 m is 8144 t (RSD49 has 7143 t at maximum draught of 4.70 m ), increase is 1000 t; allowing to transport KTG, which is relevant for the market of the countries of the Caspian region;
• the hold's height is increased up to 9000 mm, that is 620 mm bigger than for RSD49 project. Such height allows to load 9'6'' containers ("high cube containers"), 3 ones in single stack;
• movement and controllability are provided by two rudder propeller units (better maneuverability in the narrow waters, more cargo space due to the reduction of size of engine room).
