Gisan Shipyard (Yalova, Turkey) launched dry-cargo vessel "Gelmond 2" lengthened according to the RSD04LG project by 25.35 m

On 23.01.2021 Gisan Shipyard (Yalova, Turkey) launched the modernized multipurpose dry-cargo vessel "Gelmond 2" with an increase in deadweight by 1935 tons. The vessel was lengthened according to the RSD04LG project by 25.35 m.

The 003RSD04/ALB02 vessel "Gelmond 2" was built in 2008 in Tuzla (Turkey) by the Cheksan shipyard according to the project of the Marine Engineering Bureau.

The main task of lengthening by 25.35m of prj. RSD04LG is to increase the deadweight at small draughts (3.8-4.5 m), which are typical for the ports of the Azov Sea and the Caspian Sea.

The weight of the new hull block with the hatch covers is 393 t.

Deadweight at draught of 4.20 m increased to 4398 t from 3223 t for 1175 t (!!!); for draught of 4.50 m deadweight increased up to 4900 t from 3603 t for 1297 tons (!!!).

The deadweight for SWL draught of 4.85 m increased up to 5492 t (1935 t. increase).

After modernization by project RSD04LG the vessel will receive the class of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping KM Ice2 R2-RSN(4.5) AUT3.

Vessel's overall length is 115.2 m, breadth is 15.6 m, depth is 5.75 m.

Total ballast tanks capacity became 2790 m³.

Two cargo holds with total capacity of 7377 m³ (increased for 2882 m³ from the initial state) are box-shaped, smooth-walled and convenient for providing cargo operations and placing the cargo without stowage.

The dimensions of the large hold (No.2) are 57.2 x 12.74 x 7.43 m, of the other one (No.1) are 25.35 x 12.74 x 7.43 m.

A long hold allows non-standard cargo to be transported without reloading from any European port or port of the Persian Gulf region through inland waterways to the Caspian Sea.

Container capacity increased up to 161 TEU (106 in holds and 55 on hatch covers).

The vessel is equipped with hydraulically operated "Folding" hatch covers.

Maximum power of the main engine is 1470 kW.

Increasing the vessel's length to width ratio of the vessel allowed to keep fuel consumption and speed at the same main engine. The operating speed is 10.5 kn.

Crew consists of 9 people, total places onboard are 11.
