Building and putting into operation was supervised by Aleksandr Gorbat'ko from the customer side.

006RSD02 prj. vessel is one the biggest native dry-cargo vessels that satisfies all the requirements for constant operation through Volga-Don Canal.

The vessel is assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, 8.5' and 9' ISO containers, dangerous goods of 1, 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 classes of IMDG Code and cargoes of category B of BC Code.

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class of the project is of KM LU2 IISP A3. The project satisfies all the requirements of international conventions which were actual at the laying down of the vessel's keel.

Vessel's overall length is of 139.63 m, overall breadth is of 16.70 m, breadth without taking into account side fenders is of 16.50 m, depth is of 6.00 m.

Summarized capacity of cargo holds is of 10870 cub. m, total container capacity is of 280 TEU, while holds' container capacity is of 210 TEU. Deadweight in the sea is of 7078 tons, deadweight with the river draught of 3.60 m is of 4680 tons.

All holds are box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without shifting. The cargo holds' sizes are of 23.6x12.7 (hold No. 1), 22.1x12.7 m (hold No. 2), 29.9x12.7 m (hold No. 3) and 29.0x12.7 m (hold No. 4) with the height of 8.3 m.

Cargo holds are equipped with folding hatch covers of Mac-Gregor type that provide 100% holds' opening.

Two 1150 kWt medium-speed diesels (main engines) use heavy fuel oil with viscosity down to 730cSt. Heavy fuel stores are placed in deep-tanks in area of the ER fore bulkhead, separated from outside water by double bottom and double sides.

Movement and manoeuvrability is provided by two stern full-circle rudder propellers with fixed-pitch propellers (diameter is of 2000 mm) in nozzles.

Running test showed exceptional vessel's manoeuvrability, during test on measuring mile speed was of 11 kn in ballast condition when ME revolutions were of 950 rpm.

Cruising speed is of 10.5 kn.

Autonomy in the sea is of 15 days, in the river it is of 10 days. Crew consists of 12 persons (14 places).

Designed vessel hull's life term is of 24 years. The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 7.5 t per sq.m, and also allows to use a bucket grab with cargo-lifting capacity 16 tons.

Keel of dry-cargo vessel "TANAIS" (IMO No. 9305336, RS No. 030171) was laid down on 27.07.03. She was launched on 16.09.07 and was put into operation 25.03.08.
