Nikolaev will host the XII International Conf. "Innovations in Shipbuilding and Ocean Engineering", dedicated to the memory of Prof. Gennady Egorov



From September 30 till October 01, 2021, Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (former Nikolaev Shipbuilding Institute) will host XII international scientific and technical conference "Innovations in shipbuilding and ocean engineering", dedicated to memory of General Director of the Marine Engineering Bureau, professor, doctor of technical sciences Gennady Egorov.
 
During the plenary session, the Marine Engineering Bureau will present a report on the scientific and technical results of Professor Gennady Vyacheslavovich Egorov's work.
 
Egorov Gennady Vyacheslavovich, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, founder of the Marine Engineering Bureau (1966 - 2021).
 
Member of Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA).
Member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).
Corresponding Member of the International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress (ISSC) for over 20 years.
Member of the Presidium of the STC of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
Member of the Presidium of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Maritime Administration of Ukraine.
Member of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Shipping Register of Ukraine.
Academician of the Transport Academy of Ukraine.
Academician of the Academy of Shipbuilding Sciences of Ukraine.
Member of expert council of HAC.
Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine 2011.

 
Born on 23 March 1966 in Odessa.
 
Graduated with honours from school N4 in 1982. In 1988 he graduated with "red" diploma from Odessa Institute of Marine Engineers (OIIMF) with speciality "Shipbuilding and shiprepair". In 1992 he finished postgraduate study at OIIMF in department "Shipbuilding Mechanics".
 
From 1993 to 1995 he worked as a senior researcher and lecturer in the Department of Ship Structure Mechanics at OIIMF.
 
In 1993 he completed his PhD thesis on "Development of methods for optimising strength solutions in the operation of ships".
 
In 1995 he set up the Marine Engineering Bureau in Odessa and in March 2000 a similar firm in St Petersburg and headed both companies until his last moment of life.
 
In 2005 he completed his doctoral thesis on "Methodology for Ensuring Reliability and Safety of Hulls of Ships in Restricted Sailing Areas".
 
Since 2008 he has been a professor in the Department of Ship Theory and Design at the National University of Shipbuilding (Nikolaev).
 
He has received various awards, the Merit Badge of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, the Honorary Worker of the Russian River Register and the Honorary Worker of the Shipping Register of Ukraine.
 
The 2011 State Prize was awarded for the development of a new generation of universal transport vessels and means of ocean engineering.
 
Prepared, wrote and published personally and in co-authorship more than 1000 scientific works, including 6 monographs, among which: "Experience of building ships using elements of the operated fleet" (co-authored), "Design and construction of coasters and mixed vessels", "Creation of universal transport ships and means of ocean engineering" (co-authored), "Designing ships of limited navigation areas on the basis of risk theory", "Liberty means freedom" and many others.
 
He has given numerous lectures, tutorials and webinars on topical issues in shipping and shipbuilding.
 
In 2020, he was actively involved, providing calculated engineering support for the complex operation to lift and dispose of the "Delphi" tanker that was polluting the Odessa coastline.
 
Under Gennady Vyacheslavovich's management, the Bureau has evolved from a small firm dealing solely with hull calculation tasks and scientific research for classification societies to an organization that performs virtually the entire range of engineering work for shipping and shipbuilding.
 
Passed away on 30 May 2021 at the age of 55 while he was on a business trip.
