RST12C chemical tanker "Kelbajar" of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company started its maiden voyage
As reported by the ASCO press service the second RST12C tanker "Kelbajar" built at the Baku shipyard by order of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, has set off on its maiden voyage. The vessel left the Turkmen port of Turkmenbashi in the direction of the Turkish port of Gebze loaded with diesel fuel. The customer is Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), with Rauf Veliyev as chairman of the shipping company. The RST12C was designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau. The British Royal Society RINA has included the lead tanker of the RST12C "Lachin" project, built for ASCO at the Baku plant, in its Significant Ships of 2019 (50 best ships built in the world in 2019). At the Baku Shipyard, two more of the same RST12C tankers - chemical carriers are building. The new RST12C tankers have an enhanced 'Caspian' function: • with a "Caspian" draft of 4.54 m the deadweight is 7875 tonnes (the RST27 project has a deadweight of 7030 tonnes), an increase of 845 tonnes; • the capacity of cargo tanks is designed to carry oil products from the Caspian region and has been increased by raising the trunk to 9190 m³ (the RST27 has 8100 m³), i.e. by 1090 m³. Class of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping- KM Ice1 R2-RSN(4.5) AUT1-ICS VCS ECO-S OMBO Oil tanker/Chemical tanker type 2 (ESP). Like other Marine Engineering Bureau mixed river-sea tankers, the RST12C project vessels use as single propeller-rudder propulsion and control units, have a developed trunk, use cargo submersible pumps, have no longitudinal bulkhead in the BF and no set in the cargo tanks. Vessels of RST12C project meet the dimensions of the Volga-Don Canal and the Volga-Baltic Way. Overall length is 141.00 m, width is 16.9 m, side height is 6.0 m, trunk height is 1.75 m. Refers to Volgo-Don Max class tankers. The design takes into account the special requirements of Russian and global oil companies, additional environmental restrictions of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class "ECO PROJECT" (ECO-S). The vessel of RST12C project is intended for transportation of crude oil and oil products with density up to 1.015 t/m³, including petrol, without flashpoint limitation, with provision of cargo transportation with temperature maintenance of 50°C, as well as chemical cargoes: Methyl alcohol; Ethyl tert-butyl ether; Ethylene glycol; Methyl tert-butyl ether; Acetone; Ethyl alcohol; Isopropyl alcohol; Cacium lignosulphonate solution; Ethyl acetate; Hexane (all isomers); Octanol (all isomers); Sodium hydroxide solution; Toluene; Urea ammonium nitrate solution; Xylenes; Diethylene glycol. The simultaneous transportation of two (2) varieties of cargo is ensured. Capacity of six cargo tanks and two slop tanks 9190 m³, deadweight in sea - 7875 tons at 4.54 m draught, in river at 3.60 m draught - 5447 tons, speed in operation - 10.0 knots. The cargo system is designed for simultaneous transport of two types of cargo, with 6 x 200 m³/h cargo pumps. Two auxiliary steam boilers with a capacity of 2.5 t/h are installed. The main engines are two 1200 kW medium-speed diesel engines, each running on IFO380 heavy fuel. The thruster is 230 kW. The power plant consists of three 350 kW diesel generators and a 150 kW emergency standby diesel generator. Crew - 11 people, seats - 14 + pilot. Autonomy (sea/river) - 20 / 12 days. The keel of the lead vessel of the RST12C project "Lachin" (construction number 110) was laid down on 29.06.2017. Launched on 21 February 2019 and put in to operation on 24 April 2020. The keel of the second vessel "Kalbajar" (construction number 111) was laid down on 09 December 2019. Launched on 15.07.20 and put in to operation on 10.09.21. The keel of the third vessel "Akademik Hoshbakht Yusifzade" (construction number 112) is laid down (metal cutting) on 21.08.2019. Launched on 20.09.2021. The keel of the fourth vessel "Baku" (construction number 113) is laid down (metal cutting) on 21.08. 2019.
