Concept of the PV20R training and production vessel for RTU (MIIT) presented at the showroom of national projects of the "Transport Week-2021"

The concept of the training and production vessel of PV20R project for the Russian Transport University is presented at the showroom of national projects at the XV International exhibition "Transport Week-2021".

The conceptual designs of the training and production vessel of PV20R project and the cargo-passenger floating facility (berth-type vessel) of PV21M project for servicing the training vessel were developed by the Marine Engineering Bureau.

A technical feature of the developed projects is compliance with the latest safety requirements, including requirements for environmental safety.

The PV20R project training vessel is designed to solve the following tasks:

• practical training in maritime and river fleet professions, including vessel crew members;
• to practice techniques for piloting vessels using remote and crewless navigation technologies;
• formation of research competencies and technological groundwork in the field of digital navigation and fleet management;
• improving the safety and reliability of navigable hydraulic structures in terms of engineering surveys and examination of the condition of hydraulic structures;
• improving safety of navigation in terms of surveying, sounding, hydrographic works, including in shallow water areas, preparation of digital navigation charts;
• ecological monitoring of the hydrosphere, including inland waterways.

The vessel is a carrier of an autonomous (unmanned) module controlled remotely (radio control through digital communication), with the ability to control the module using "artificial intelligence" (AI).

New concept of training diesel-electric vessel of PV20R project is a steel self-propelled vessel with excess of freeboard, with vertical bow and transom stern, with a middle arrangement of two-story superstructure, with bow wheelhouse, with engine room aft, with diesel-electric power plant, with two full-turn propeller-rudder columns and bow thruster, with ice reinforcement category "Ice20".

The main characteristics of the training vessel of the PV20R project:

RRR class - M3,0 (ice 20) A;
The maximum length - 58.30 m;
Length at structural waterline - 58.15 m;
Overall width - 12.30 m;
Estimated width - 12.00 m;
Board height to the main deck - 3.50 m;
Design waterline draft - 1.80 m;
Overhead dimension with draft on the design waterline - 8.60 m;
Displacement at design waterline draught (about) - 1000 tons;
Total power of 4 diesel generators - 2200 kW;
Power of propulsive propulsion motors 2x 590 kW;
Speed of operation - 20 km/h;
Power of bow thruster - 75 kW;
Crew - 10 persons;
Number of special personnel - 35 people/37 seats;
Sailing autonomy - 15 days.

Five specialized training rooms are provided on the ship to perform training and research tasks. All laboratories are connected by optical local and onboard Wi-Fi network connected to the Internet.

In the forward house on the main deck there is a class for navigational training and ship navigation, equipped with simulators.

On the upper deck in the middle is a conference room for 45 seats, equipped with multimedia presentation equipment, videoconferencing system.

Aft of the upper deck is an area for launching and receiving unmanned aerial vehicles and for receiving helicopter suspended loads (when there are no loads on the deck).

The hybrid propulsion unit (HPU) consists of:

• four main diesel generators;
• main switchboard and frequency converters;
• propulsion motors, working for 2 propellers.

The steering of the vessel is provided by two full-turn propeller-rudder columns and a bow tunnel thruster of the "propeller-in-tube" type.

The vessel is equipped with a helmsman with a hardware-software complex, which allows to monitor the operation of ship systems, control the vessel remotely (without the crew for research purposes, with the watchman on the bridge for safety), including the use of elements of artificial intelligence.

Fresh water reserves are replenished by the desalter. To prevent environmental pollution, the vessel is equipped with cisterns for the collection of oily and waste water, and containers for waste collection.

In the aft part on the starboard side there is an electrohydraulic crane with lifting capacity up to 3 tons with an outreach up to 5 m for launching/receiving of uncrewed drone, diving pavilion, small vessels, etc.

The PV21M project cargo-passenger floating facility (berth-connected vessel) is designed to solve the following tasks:

• providing mooring and maintenance for RTU training and production vessels;
• maintenance of boats and other small vessels with the ability to lift them onto the deck with a cargo crane installed on it with a capacity of 3 tons at an outreach of 5 m;
• storage in the hold and pantry of vessel property of serviced vessels;
• temporary accommodation of people and equipment waiting for boarding under the tent.

Cargo-passenger floating facility - pontoon with cargo crane and cargo deck, deckhouse for duty room and diesel generator, with a tent for sheltering people on board.

Main characteristics of the PV21M project's berth-connected vessel:

RRR class - P1,2;
The maximum length - 36.68 m;
Length by structural waterline - 36.00 m;
Width overall - 10.40 m;
Estimated width - 10.00 m;
Board height to the main deck - 2.20 m;
Design waterline draft - 0.50 m;
Overhead clearance at design waterline draft - 7.30 m;
Main source of electric power - shore supply;
Reserve source of electric power - emergency DG 60 kW;
Area of the cargo part of the deck - 110 m².
