The Sefine shipyard has laid down the keel of the lead multipurpose 18-MW arctic rescue vessel of the IBSV02 project to operate on the Northern Sea Ro

On March 2nd, 2022 at Sefine shipyard a keel of the lead multipurpose rescue and salvage vessel of the Arctic sailing class Icebreaker 7, 18 MW of IBSV02 project was laid for Federal State Institution "Directorate of State Customer for Marine Transport Development Programs" of Rosmorrechflot, operator - Morspassluzhba.
 
The design was developed by the Marine Engineering Bureau.
 
The vessel has the following characteristics:
 
The overall length - about 118.0 m;
Overall breadth - about 26, 0 m;
The breadth of the CWL - 25.0 m;
Depth - 11,5 m;
The draught - 8.0 m;
Speed - 15 knots.
 
RS Class: KM Icebreaker7 1 AUT1-ICS OMBO FF2WS DYNPOS-2 EPP ANTI-ICE BWM(T) SDS<60 WINTERIZATION(-40) Salvage ship/Tug/ Oil recovery ship (>60°C) /Special purpose ship.
 
Purpose of the vessel:
 
• icebreaking operations with ice thickness up to 1.5 m, rescue duty in areas of shipping, fishing, offshore oil and gas fields;
• providing technical support and assistance in areas dangerous to navigation, seafood extraction, maintenance of transport operations in ports;
• searching for and assisting vessels in distress;
• search, rescue, evacuation and temporary accommodation of people and providing them with medical care;
• removing of emergency vessels from shoals and reefs, pumping water out of flooded compartments;
• towing of emergency vessels and objects to the place of shelter, as well as performing sea towing of vessels, floating objects and structures in ice and on clear water;
• assisting vessels and performing rescue operations in ice conditions and on clear water;
• assisting in extinguishing fires on floating and shore objects accessible from the sea;
• logistics and technical support, including the performance of underwater technical work, divers at depths of up to 60 meters;
• extinguishing fuel burning on water, liquidation of emergency spills of oil and oil products (OSR);
• inspection and cleaning of the underwater part of the hull of vessels, floating and shore objects;
• survey of the ocean floor and damaged objects at depths of up to 1,000 m.
