Transportation of large-sized cargoes for Caspian Sea was carried out by single-hold dry-cargo vessel of 003RSD04 project of "Caspian Express" type

On September 29, 2010 the loading of large-sized cargo into the hold and onto the hatch covers of dry-cargo vessel of 003RSD04 project "Ulus Stream" was completed at the port of Haydarpasha (Turkey).

Vessel of "Caspian Express" type (building No. is of H-29) with deadweight about 3760 tons belongs to the Albros Shipping Company (Raim Alekperov is a general director).

The project 003RSD04 was designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB).

Cylindrical cargo (weight is of 566 tons, length is of 40.4 m and diameter is of 6.50 m) was loaded into the hold. Another cargo place (weight is of 136 tons, length is of 37 m and diameter is of 6.20 m) was loaded onto the hatch covers.

Two similar cargoes (weight is of 566 tons and length is of 40.4 m) are going to be transported by the sister-ship during next voyage.

The single hold of prj 003RSD04 vessel is box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without shifting.

The cargo hold's size is of 59.15x13.2x6.39 m (with vessel's effective length of 84.95 m).

Because of such function 003RSD04 prj. vessels are convenient for equipment delivery to intensive development of Caspian shelf zone. Non-standard cargo places can be delivered without reloading from any European port or from any Persian Gulf's area port through internal ways of the Russian Federation to Caspian Sea.

Vessel was built at "CHEKSAN" shipyard in Tuzla, Turkey.

Vessel's Russian Maritime Register of shipping (RS) class is of KM LU2 II A3.

Vessel's overall length is of 89.7 m, breadth is of 15.6 m, depth is of 5.75 m.

"Ulus Stream" hull was strengthened up to category LU2 that allows to maintain the vessel in running voyage through rare ice brush with thickness up to 55 cm with speed of 5 kn and behind the icebreaker through ice-field with thickness up to 50 cm with speed of 3 kn.

Motor-ship "Ulus Stream" is operated using heavy fuel, down to IFO 180 (the first vessels of the series worked on diesel fuel).

Consumption of heavy fuel IFO 130 is of 5.6 tons per day with vessel's cruising speed of 10 kn. It makes economy of the vessel more attractive than economy of "Volgo-Balt" type vessels, for example.

Vessel belongs to so-called "Azov 3000" type due to MEB internal classification, because she can surely load cargo of 3000 tons (+10%) at small draughts of Azov and Caspian ports.

Vessel's deadweight is of 2481 tons when draught in river is of 3.6 m. Deadweight is of 3557 tons when draught in salt water is of 4.46 m.

Special scheme of vessel's compartments was designed to satisfy SOLAS requirements to probability index for ship subdivision for possibility of arrange single cargo hold. Tank plan foresees special arrangement of ballast tanks in double bottom and double sides and dry compartment in double bottom with presence of through-flowing pipes which provides minimum list when the hull is damaged.

Capacity of single-screw engine with variable-pitch propeller and shaft generator is of 1470 kw.

Good manoeuvrability in river, shallow water, in the constrained conditions is ensured because of comparative small length and presence of bow thruster.

Vessel's keel was laid down on 25.12.04. She was launched on 02.07.06 and she was put into operation on 02.10.06.
