Zaporizhzhya shipyard JCSC "Ukrrichflot" has finished re-equipment of dry-cargo vessel "Smart" of "Omskiy" type
Zaporizhzhya shipyard JCSC "Ukrrichflot" has finished the re-equipment of dry-cargo vessel "Smart" of "Omskiy" type. "Blue Wave Shipping" holding company is a customer. (Otar Kosashvili is a chairman of board of directors). Re-equipment project was designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB). Vessel could be operated in regions in according to Russian River Register class notation of M-SP 2.5 (ice 30)A before the re-equipment. After the re-equipment vessel has achieved Russian Maritime Register of shipping class notation KM L4 R2-RSN with ability to transport 152 TEU (there were 106 TEU before re-equipment). Sailing region after re-equipment is of sea regions in compliance with restricted sailing region of R2-RSN (mixed "river-sea" navigation at seas with a wave height of 6m with 3% probability, with ships proceeding from the place of refuge: in open seas up to 50 miles and with an allowable distance between the places of refuge not more than 100 miles; in enclosed seas up to 100 miles and with allowable distance between the places of refuge not more than 200 miles) and internal water ways of Russian Federation and Ukraine. Longitudinal and transverse hatch coamings of cargo holds are increased for 340 mm from existing hatch coamings for ability of transportation of two containers' tiers with height of 8.5' each, in addition there were made works connected with add-on strips outfit on longitudinal hatch coamings, main deck, sheerstrake and double bottom constructions reinforcement in area of installation of additional foundations for containers. Existing foundations for containers on hatch covers were dismounted and changed with new ones. New foundations provide "fully stack" container transportation. Meanwhile hatch covers were reinforced. Increase of continuous longitudinal hatch coamings (were increased for 340 mm) and hull reinforcements allow to increase standard of general strength of vessel's hull (by 40%). Moment of inertia increase (without bottom thickness increase) allowed to increase bottom section modulus on 14%. Cargo holds' capacity was increased by 4.3%. After re-equipment vessel "Smart" is of cargo double-screw type with 4 cargo holds, with double bottom and double sides, with forecastle and poop, with ER and accommodation superstructure located aft. The dry-cargo vessel is assigned for transportation of the general, bulk, timber, grain and international standard containers in holds and on hatch covers. Vessel's principal dimensions after re-equipment: Overall length - 108.40 m; Breadth - 14.80 m; Depth - 5.50 m; Draught - 3.264 m; Deadweight - 3038 t; Container capacity - 152 TEU; Hold's number - 4; Cargo holds capacity - 4571 cub. m; Ballast tanks capacity - 1628 cub. m; Hatch covers are of piggy back type. Re-equipped dry-cargo vessel "Smart" (because of container capacity increase and assignment of RS class notation) has technical and economic indices that significantly exceed vessel's ones before re-equipment that allows her to be successfully operated in the conditions of the river-sea going and sea transportations.
