JCSC Ukrrichflot Zaporizhzhya shipyard has completed re-equipment of dry-cargo vessel "Lazurit" of "Omskiy" type

JCSC Ukrrichflot Zaporizhzhya shipyard has completed re-equipment of dry-cargo vessel "Lazurit" of "Omskiy" type.

Customer - "Blue Wave Shipping" holding company (Otar Kosashvili is a chairman of board of directors).

Re-equipment project was designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB).

Before re-equipment the vessel was able to be operated in regions in according to Russian River Register class notation of M-SP 2.5 (ice 30) A. After re-equipment vessel has achieved Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation KM L4 R2-RSN with ability to transport 152 TEU (there were 106 TEU before re-equipment).

Sailing region after re-equipment are sea regions in compliance with restricted sailing region of R2-RSN (mixed "river-sea" navigation at seas with 3% probability wave height of 6m, distance from shelter place not more than 50 miles and allowable distance between shelter places not more than 100 miles in open seas; distance from shelter place not more than 100 miles and allowable distance between shelter places not more than 200 miles in closed seas) and internal waterways of Russian Federation and Ukraine.

For ability of transportation of two tiers of containers with height is of 8.5' longitudinal and transverse hatch coamings of cargo holds are increased by 340 mm from existing hatch coamings, in addition there were made works connected with add-on strips outfit on longitudinal hatch coamings, main deck, sheer strake and double bottom constructions reinforcement in area of installation of additional foundations for containers.

Existing foundations for containers on hatch covers were dismounted and changed with new ones. New foundations provide "fully stack" container transportation. Meanwhile hatch covers were reinforced.

Increase of continuous longitudinal hatch coamings height and hull reinforcements allow to increase standard of general strength of vessel's hull (by 40%). Moment of inertia increase without bottom thickness increase allowed to increase bottom section modulus by 14%.

Cargo holds' capacity increased by 4.3%.

After re-equipment vessel "Lazurit" type is as follows: cargo double-screw type vessel with 4 cargo holds, with double bottom and double sides, with forecastle and poop, with ER and living superstructure located aft.

The dry-cargo vessel is assigned for transportation of the general, bulk, timber, grain cargoes and ISO containers in holds and on hatch covers.

Vessel's principal dimensions after re-equipment are as follows:

Overall length is of 108.40 m;
Breadth is of 14.80 m;
Depth is of 5.50 m;
Draught is of 3.264 m;
Deadweight is of 3027 t;
Container capacity is of 152 TEU;
Hold's number is of 4;
Cargo holds capacity is of 4571 cub. m;
Ballast tanks capacity is of 1628 cub. m;
Hatch covers are of piggy back type.

Re-equipped dry-cargo vessel "Lazurit" (due to container capacity increase and alternation of RS class notation) has technical and economic indices that significantly exceed vessel's ones before re-equipment that allows her to be successfully operated in the conditions of the river-sea going and sea transportations.
