The first livestock carrier under Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation

On November 18, 2010 Turkish shipyard Torlak (Tuzla) put into operation special vessel for livestock transportation of LSC01 project with deadweight is of 8443 tons.
 
Vessel's name is Almahmoud-2.
 
Vessel's technical-working project (LSC01) is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau.
 
The vessel is assigned for transportation of livestock (7500 units of cattle and 5700 units of sheep) on 10 decks on routes South America - Middle East and Australia - Middle East.
 
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation of the project is of KM Livestock carrier.
 
Vessel is steel multiple (ten) deck single-screw motorship, with overall length of 149.9 m, breadth of 22.8 m, with full length superstructure (depth to f'castle deck is of 22.96 m), aft engine-room, deckhouse and wheelhouse amidship, with double bottom, with bulbous bow and transom stern, with excess freeboard.
 
Deadweight of vessel is of 8443 tons (Loadline draught is of 8.46 m). Gross tonnage is 18361. Net tonnage is 10979.
 
Service speed is of 21 knots with main engine (Low-speed diesel) MDC is of 12876 kWt. In the after part of vessel there are single 5.25 m diameter 5-blade fixed pitch propeller made from Ni-Al bronze and single streamlined pendant semi-balanced 22 sq.m area rudder. For improvement of controllability at low speeds, at passing narrow waters and at moorings two bow electrical thrusters "screw in a pipe" with controllable pitch propellers with nominal thrust of 10 t are foreseen.
 
Crew consists of 30 persons (actually vessel's crew) and 30 persons for livestock service ("cowboys"). 2 Life boats with 65 person capacity of each are installed.
 
There are created favourable conditions for safe and secure cattle transportation including sufficient for 2 meals a day quantity of feed and supply sufficient quantity of drinking water, and also special systems for automatic feeding and fresh water, rejections and flows remove, livestock compartments ventilation.
 
Loading and unloading of livestock is implemented through side doors with removable outboard inclined gangways. Vessel's loading begins from lower decks towards upper decks. Silo loading begins after livestock loading. Unloading proceeds inversely, from upper decks towards lower decks.
 
Summarized area of ten cargo decks is of 13200 sq.m. Area of decks for cattle is of 11300 sq.m. Area of deck (Deck No 9) for sheep is of 1900 sq.m.
 
Transportable quantity of livestock is of 7500 units of cattle (mid weight is of 500 kg) and 5700 units of sheep on Deck No 9 (mid weight is of 40kg). Feed bunker capacity for silo is of 2282 cub.m.
 
Capability of water-desalinating plant (for livestock drinking water) is of 120 cub.m per day.
