Dry-cargo vessel of "Caspian Express" type "Ulus Prime" (003RSD04) demonstrates her possibilities

In the night from 3.07.05 till 4.07.05 003RSD04 prj. dry-cargo vessel "Ulus Prime" (Russian flag, Taganrog port of registry, vessel was put into operation in October, 2004) passed through Neva bridges of St.Petersburg during voyage from the port of Aberdyn (Scotland) to the port of Baku (Azerbaijan) with project large-sized cargoes for the first time.

The single vessel's hold is box-shaped with sizes of 59.2x13.2x6.4 (designed vessel length is of 85 m). The vessel has increased navigability and high standard of strength comparing to the existing river-sea going vessels that can perform such voyages.

This voyage demonstrates one of main functions of "Caspian Express", i.e. possibility of non-standard cargo transportation without reloading from European suppliers to the customers of rapidly developing Caspian region through European part of Russia internal waterways without loss of running time while waiting for good weather at sea.

"ALBROS" shipping company is a ship-owner (Raim Alekperov is a general director).

Vessel's project 005RSD04 is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB).

Deadweight is of 2350 tons with sea draught of 3.40 m, deadweight is of 2580 tons with river draught of 3.60 m, deadweight is of 3760 tons with sea draught of 4.46 m.

Vessel has single-screw propulsion plant. Good manoeuvrability in river, shallow water, in the constrained conditions is ensured because of comparative small length and presence of bow thruster with capacity of 125 kWt that is confirmed by masters' comments.

Six vessels of the project are ordered. First two vessels were put into operation; the third one was launched on April, 23, 2005.
