The second tanker of "Armada" type, built at Beshiktash Shipyard, was put into operation

On March 30, 2011 Palmali group (Mubariz Mansimov is a president) accepted second vessel of the series (RST22M project) "Kapitan Nagdaliev" (tanker with deadweight of 7103 tons, IMO No. is of 9575307) into operation.

Vessel was built at Beshiktash Shipyard (Yalova, Turkey). RST22M project ("Armada" third series) is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB).

The new series vessels are logical continuation of 005RST01 project tankers known as first series "Armada" which were designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau for Palmali group of companies and which were built on "SELAH" and "ADA" shipyards in Tuzla (Turkey) in 2002-2006 and modification of second series tankers of RST22 project which were built on "Krasnoe Sormovo" shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod) in 2008-2009.

"Armada" type tankers of the first series and "New Armada" type tankers of the second series are successfully operated on the river-sea and sea transportations in Caspian, Black, Mediterranean, Baltic and North Seas, including voyages around Europe and to Irish Sea in winter. They transport crude oil, masout, diesel fuel, other petroleum products and vegetable oils.

Using full-circle rudder propellers as movement and manoeuvre facilities, using submersible pumps, absence of longitudinal bulkhead in CL, full absence of a framing in cargo tanks, developed trunk are characteristic features of RST22M, RST22 and 005RST01 vessels' projects.

Vessels satisfy dimensions of the Volga-Don Canal and Volga-Baltic Way. Overall RST22M prj. vessel length is of 139.95 m, breadth is of 16.6 m, depth is of 6.0 m.

Vessels belong to "Volga-Don Max" tankers' type.

New project tankers have increased sea function, increased for 650 tons deadweight at sea conditions and increased total cargo tanks capacity with keeping river possibilities in comparison with first series vessels of "Armada" type.

Vessels satisfy all new international requirements for transportation of vegetable oils, including two-compartment unsinkability.

Special requirements of the Russian and world petroleum companies, additional ecological limitations "ECO PROJECT" (ECO-S) class were taken into consideration during designing.

Hull's theoretical forms were defined using calculating hydromechanics methods (CFD modeling).

Total capacity of six cargo tanks and two slop ones is of 8090 cub. m, deadweight is about 7050 tons when sea draught is of 4.60 m. Deadweight is about 4700 tons when river draught is of 3.60 m. Cruising speed is of 10.5 knots.

Two medium-speed diesels (main engine) of 1200 kWt each use heavy fuel oil with viscosity of IFO380.

Lead vessel "Mubariz Ibragimov" showed:

1. During running test (ballast condition) vessel's cruising speed was of 12.1 kn with 85% usage of main engines' capacity.
2. Vessel's speed was of 11.5-12.0 kn during ballast run (draught is of 3.20 m), with head wind of 12 meters per second and wave's height of 1.5-2.0 m.
3. Vessel's speed was of 12.3-12.5 kn during cargo run, with following wind of 25-30 meters per second and following sea with wave's height of 6-7 m.
4. Vessel's speed was of 9.9-10.2 kn during cargo run, with head wind of 13-14 meters per second and head sea with wave's height of 1.5-2.0 m and with counter flow of 3 kn.
5. Vessel's speed was of 11 kn during cargo run on still waterx with draught of 4.45 m.

RST22M vessel's project Russian Maritime Register of shipping class notation is of KM Ice 2 R1 AUT1 COMBO oil tanker/chemical tanker type 2 (vegetable oil) (ESP) ECO-S.

In comparison with the second series of "Armada" type, all new requirements of International Conventions and Register Rules (MARPOL requirements due to access to double side and double bottom spaces and others), were taken into consideration. There were mounted six cargo pumps with capacity of 200 cub.m/h instead of six cargo pumps with capacity of 150 cub.m/h. This change allowed to reduce time of cargo operations on 2.5 hour. Submersible ballast pumps were mounted (as it was in basic project), stern manifold was excluded and arrangement of equipment in engine room was significantly changed because of exclusion of function of dismounting of full-circle rudder propellers through the upper deck.

Total 10 vessels are to be built in the third series (5 ones due to contract and 5 ones are optional). It is known that in the first series of "Armada" type there were built also ten tankers, and in the second series also ten tankers had to be built (but actually only 5 tankers were built for Palmali group of companies).
