On 16.03.2012 Western Baltija Shipbuilding Yard (Klaipeda, Lithuania) launched lead multipurpose dry cargo barge of DCB23 prj. with 6100 t deadweight (building No. Nb 53).

DCB23 project is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB).

DCB23 prj. barge may be used for transportation of general and dry bulk cargoes including scrap-iron, grain, timber, building materials etc.

Barge is steel single-deck non-self-propelled vessel with double bottom and double sides, with 4 cargo holds, equipped with cargo hatch covers of pontoon type, with ER and duty room located aft. Barge's hull has simplified outline and transom stern with skeg and two stabilizers.

Duty watch room for 2 persons is foreseen onboard. Duty persons watch keeping is foreseen for staying near berth only in order to provide safety of reloading cargo and barge's property.

Deadweight is about of 6100 t while sea draught is of 5.00 m. Ballast draught is of 3.25 m.

Vessel's overall length is of 99.98 m, overall width is of 16.71 m, width with no fender bars is of 16.50, depth is of 8.00 m.

Total capacity of cargo holds is off 9800 cub. m. Tank top is designed for distributed load of 15.0 t /sq.m.

Cargo holds are equipped with weather-tight pontoon type hatch covers.

Hatch covers handling is foreseen by electro-hydraulic bridge crane. Bridge crane height ensures four hatch covers placing. Crane's capacity corresponds to the weight of a single hatch cover.

Single 52 kWt diesel-generator is foreseen as the main power source that is assigned for providing work of all stay regime equipment including bridge deck, capstan and windlass.

High-speed 4-stroke 168 KWt diesel-generator is foreseen as an auxiliary power source that is assigned for providing work of thruster and ballast pumps (at staying regime for ballast pumps only).

Skeg and two stabilizers at the aft end are foreseen for course keeping. Stern 120 kWt thruster of "screw in the tube" type is foreseen for mooring operations.
