Traditional technical-science conference of naval structural mechanics dedicated to the memory of academic P.F. Papkovich completed

Conference took place in St.Petersburg on 17-18.12.2012 and was organized by FSUE "Krylovskiy State Scientific Center" (CNII named for academic A.N.Krylov) and by Central branch of Russian Technical-Science Shipbuilders Society named for academic A.N.Krylov (Sc.Dr., Professor Oleg Paliy is a head of organizing committee; Ph.D., Associate Professor Evgeniy Shishenin is a Scientific Secretary).

Colleagues recalled outstanding "rule-maker" of shipbuilding, naval architector, companion and friend, professor G.V. Boytsov during the first day of the conference.

Then 60 reports concerning actual problems of designing/construction and strength of vessels and marine/sea structure were listened in total. 80 leading specialists from researching institutes, universities, designing organizations and students of shipbuilding universities participated in the conference.

Geography of participants traditionally included almost all former USSR, e.g. St.Petersburg, Moscow, Vladivostok, Odessa, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Kherson, Komsomolsk-na-Amure and other shipbuilding and port cities.

Marine Engineering Bureau made 12 reports at the conference.

1. Investigation of mixed river-sea going vessel's hull with very big block coefficient (authors: G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk, B. N. Stankov, A.V. Pechenyuk).

Investigation of running and sea keeping characteristics of river-sea going vessels (RSV) with very big block coefficient and equipped with rudder-propeller was carried out in this paper.

Defined theoretical results let Marine Engineering Bureau to create new project of the "thick" tanker of RSV type (prj. RST27) with river deadweight of about 5420 t (while draught is 3.60 m); anybody can compare this vessel with RST22 tanker, when with the same navigation class R2 old vessel has river deadweight of about 4700 t.

2. Experience of river cruise vessels building using elements of donor vessels (authors: N.V. Avtutov, G.V. Egorov, Ya.V. Kalugin).

The problem of creation of a modern river cruise passenger ships using elements of donor vessels was examined at the report. An example of building of such vessel as "Alexander Green" of project PV08 was studied in detail.

Serious cruise managers discuss ways of fleet renovation including such ideas as modernization (significant re-equipment) and new fleet building including vessels building using elements from donor vessels.

Conversion is based on the basic paradigms, as follows:

1. Science-based approach to the definition of keeping old constructions or using new ones.
2. Full meeting of international and domestic requirement n the date of new vessel building.
3. Actual reliability ensuring for the given term of vessel's operation.
4. New vessel's quality from vessel's main function point of view.
5. Up-to-date calculation methods and technology usage.

The project PV08 of cruise vessel "Alexandr Grin" was implemented in 2012. This project foresaw usage of elements of exist vessel.

A vessel for comfortable cruises between Moscow and St.Petersburg with 4* hotel class was built as a result.

56 standard double cabins with the area of 14,5-18 square meters and 6 superior cabins "Suite" with the area of 23-25 square meters were provided to accommodate 112 passengers. All passenger cabins are equipped with double beds, shower and toilet, air conditioning, wardrobes, safe, television with satellite and intercom channels, hairdryer, electric sockets for 220 V, wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi), the ship's public address system, internal and external telephone.

Cabins "Neva" and "Volga" on the decks have private balconies. The restaurant with area of 281 square meters for 150 seats, a lounge with bar for 65 seats with the area of 221 square meters, gym, massage, hairdresser, clinic are at call. Passenger elevator connects all the deck of the ship. Large upper open deck (Sun Deck) with sun loungers is for recreation tourists.

New main engines and diesel generators, electrical, automation, navigation and communications, air conditioning, water supply and ventilation were installed.

3. Background of Kamchatka supply vessel concept (authors:G.V. Egorov, I.A. Ilnitskiy).

The principles of creation of supply vessels for Kamchatka were considered in DCV47 project.

Concept includes bulk cargoes transportation (incl. coal for wintering) with ability of unloading by vessel's crane equipped by grab or by coast means; ISO type containers transportation with roads unloading or at long voyages; heavy wheel of 15 t per wheel or truck vehicles of 60 t transportation with ability of vehicles roll-on / roll-off through bow ramp when coast support is prepared; heavy wheel of 10 t per wheel or truck vehicles of 30 t when there is no coast support; cargoes roads load and unloading; entering to the shallow water river mouths during tide with drainage ability on sand-gravel soil and supply horizontal delivered cargo unloading through the bow ramp or with help of vessel's crane or by the coast means that (incl. car cranes) that are able come to the vessel's side during tide.

4. Background for characteristics definition of shallow water icebreaking tug for the port of Dudinka (authors: G.V. Egorov, N.V. Avtutov).

Characteristics of Marine Engineering Bureau river tug (TG04 project) for port of Dudinka are proved. The tug is effective for shallow water and river ice conditions. Her draught is 1.80 m, dock weight is less than 100 t, bollard pull is of 6 t.

5.Requirements for the hull of small supply vessels (authors: G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk).

Additional functions and characteristics of small supply vessel are proved basing on investigation of new generation of marine diving vessel built for FBC "Gosmorspasslyzba Rossii". Diving equipment for underwater 100 m depth works is foreseen onboard of the concept vessel. The vessel is able to carry out fire-fighting works, towage operations, oil spill operations, water incoming combat onboard other objects. On board the vessel there are also remote operated deep-water vehicle, underwater welding equipment for 25 m depth and underwater cutting equipment for 100 m depth, crane for 3 t objects lifting from 100 m depth.

6. Preconditions of new generation of mixed river-sea navigation dry-cargo vessels creation (authors: G.V. Egorov, N. V.Avtutov, A. G.Egorov).

There was shown that the stable growth of traffic, which was observed before the crisis at internal waterways (IWW) of the European part of Russia, and which is observed at the moment, in the long term will depend on the implementation of measures to eliminate "bottlenecks" in the IWW of the European part of Russia and the rate of building of new vessels, instead of writing off the vessels.

Cargo vessels with low air draught (RSD44 project) for internal and "river-sea" going transportation (to replace the "Volga-Don" and "Volga" types), which have much better technical and economic indicators in the river and which have the ability to pass under the bridges of the Neva and Rostov railway bridges without wiring are recommended for building. It is also recommended to build cargo vessels with "fat" hull forms similar by concept with the tanker of RST27 project, which have enhanced river function and the increased deadweight in river (5200 tons with draught of 3.6 meters).

It's recommended to build mixed river-sea going cargo vessels (of RSD49 project) for coastal, marine, and "sea-river" transportation.

7. Investigation of next-generation "Dnepro-Max" class barge-towing train (author: A. G. Egorov).

The analysis of operation efficiency of mixed navigation "Dnepro-Max" class barge-towing train with use of model of "rotator" is executed. The model of train operation is carried out. Due to chosen model of operation using the "Rotator" had the payback period for only 5 years old.

8. Strength investigation for hulls of river-sea going passenger vessels at marine conditions (authors: G.V. Egorov, V.V. Kozlyakov, I. F. Davydov, Ya. V. Kalugin).

It is pointed that river-sea going passenger vessels (RSPV) operation at the inshore marine regions has a long history. Natural experiments carried out by Marine Engineering Bureau have ensured that main and upper decks of 301 and 302 prj. vessels fully take part in the overall bending; same time one may see practically full absence of hull constructions wearing and residual deformations with simultaneously nice hull coating condition and well-timed coating refreshing.

9. Regular waves condition towing test of tanker's model with very big block coefficient (authors: G.V. Egorov, S.N. Baskakov, A.V. Demidyuk, V.A. Nilva).

Regular waves condition seakeeping model tests results for "very thick" RST27 prj. tanker at towing tank of Odessa National Maritime University are given. Model was examined at relative wave's length λ/L of 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00, 1.25 and 1.50. Wave's relative height was accepted of 1/40. Existence of minimal permitted run speed in waves was shown. Vessel's speed decreasing less than this minimum may cause to full stop of the vessel or to vessel's course-unkeepable.

10. Estimation features of extremely plastic longitudinal strength of bulk-carriers' hulls during interlaced holds' loading (authors: V.V. Avramov, V.V. Kozlyakov).

11. Investigation of the correlation proportions between the inertial loads and loads of general and local bending (authors: I.F. Davydov, V.V. Kozlyakov, N.F. Butenko).

12. The estimate of the allowed intensity of heaving by condition of extremely plastic longitudinal strength for vessels of restricted navigation area (authors: I.F. Davydov, V.V. Golikov, E.A. Vlasenko).
