The fifth dry-cargo vessel of the "Caspian Express" type was launched

On February, 09, 2006 the fifth dry-cargo vessel "Ulus Wind" of "Caspian Express" type was launched on Ceksan Shipyard (Tuzla, Turkey) for Albros Shipping Company (Raim Alekperov is a general director). Vessel's deadweight is of 3700 tons. Vessel's Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation is of RS KM LU2 II A3.

Vessel's project 003RSD04 is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB). Project was modified as a result of first vessels in the series operations with the active assistance of Albros company colleagues.

Vessel is destined for work with draught of 4.1-4.5 m at Russian ports of Azov and Caspian Seas with possibility sailing through on the Volga-Don canal. The vessel is a symbiosis product of the European coasters and Russian river-sea sailing conditions. It allows to transport project large-sized cargoes from European ports to Caspian ones.

The single vessel's hold is box-shaped with sizes of 59 x 13.2 x 6.4 m (designed vessel length is of 85 m). Hatch covers are of "multifolding" type. Capacity of single-screw engine with variable-pitch propeller is of 1470 kWt and shaft generator capacity is of 216 kWt. Cruising speed is of more than 10.5 kn.

Good manoeuvrability in river, shallow water, in the constrained conditions is ensured because of comparative small length and presence of bow thruster with capacity of 200 kWt.

As opposed to first four vessels of the series, which had ice category LU1, "Ulus Wind" was strengthened up to category LU2. Strengthening allows to maintain a vessel in running voyage through rare ice brush with thickness up to 55 cm with speed of 5 kn and behind the icebreaker through ice-field with thickness up to 50 cm with speed of 3 kn.

Capacity of main engine was increased from 1290 up to 1470 kWt. The systems, arrangement and tankage were significantly modified. These modifications are allowed to operate "Ulus Wind" motorship on IFO 380 heavy oil fuel (first vessels of the series worked on diesel oil).

Vessel's keel was laid down on 24.12.04 and was launched on 09.02.06.
