Another dry-cargo vessel of "Volgo-Don Max" class was put into operation

On February, 22, 2006 "Concord Shipping" shipping company (Anatoliy Chaban is a president of the company) accepted into operation river-sea going dry-cargo vessel "Chelsea-3" with deadweight of 5830 tons (building number is of 1403).

Project 005RSD06.01 (modified 005RSD06), is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau (MEB).

Vessel's building is carried out in accordance with normative document named "Building of internal waterways and river-sea going vessels using elements of maintained vessels". This document was issued by Russian River Register (RRR) under direction of Nikolay Efremov, doctor of economic sciences.

Designing and construction supervision is being carried out by Verkhiy-Volga branch of RRR (Valeriy Lobastov is the head of branch).

Vessel's Russian River Register class notation is of M-SP 3.5, which allows to make international voyages through Black, Mediterranean, Baltic and others Seas. It completely pays off traditional commercial geography of river-sea going vessel's operation, within boundaries of class restrictions.

Vessel belongs to so-called "Volga-Don Max" type due to MEB internal classification, the principal particulars of which (overall length is of 136.52 m, breadth is of 16.76 m) are caused by dimensions of the Volga-Don navigation canal locks. Due to reasonable reduction of vessel's class decrease of metal amount for hull was reached. That allowed to provide record deadweight of 5080 tons for Volga-Don Canal specific draught of 3.6 m.

The series is being built by Kherson shipyard due to "Concord Shipping" company order for the Russian River Register class of the M-SP 3.5 with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping conventional documents.

"Chelsea-3" has increased sea deadweight by 370 tons, completed poop, up-to-date superstructure and increased capacity of main engines in comparison with earlier built "Chelsea-2" (005RSD06 prj.).

The vessel is optimized for work with draughts of 3.2-3.9 m. The maximum deadweight with draught of 3.87 m is of 5830 tons, with river draught of 3.60 m deadweight is of 5080 tons.

The dry cargo ship is assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, dangerous goods of 1, 1.4S, 2.1, 2.2, 4.1, 4.2,5, 5.1, 6.1, 8, 9 classes. The vessel has four holds with total capacity of 9860 m³ that allows to transport cargoes with the big stowage factor volume without any loss of cargo capacity. The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 6.5 t/m².Hatch covers are of Piggy Back type.

Total ballast tanks capacity is of 3165 m³.

Two medium-speed diesels (main engine) of 852 kWt each provide cruising speed of 10.5 kn. Fixed-pitch propellers are in turning nozzles.

Vessel's keel was laid down on 10.06.04. She was launched on 29.01.05 and was put into operation 17.02.05.
