Reports at the 4th international conference "Innovations of shipbuilding and ocean engineering" in Nikolaev

From 9th till 11th of October, 2013 4th international scientific and technical conference "Innovations of shipbuilding and ocean engineering" was held in admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (NUS) in Nikolaev.

Specialasts from Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Vietnam, Iran, Turkey and Canada made more than 250 reports.

The plenary meeting was opened by the report of laureates of the Ukraine State Award in science and technology "Creating an multipurpose transport ships and facilities of ocean engineering", namely S.S. Ryzhkov., V.S. Blintsov, G.V. Egorov, J.D. Zhukov, V.F. Kvasnitsky, K.V. Koshkin, I.V. Krivtsun, V.A. Nekrasov, V.V. Sevryukov and Y.V. Solonichenko.

During this meeting the general director of the Marine Engineering Bureau, professor Gennadiy Egorov had a speech on the topical theme "Justification of the parametric line of passenger cruise vessels for the inland waterways of Russia and Ukraine" (co-authors are the first deputy of general director Igor Ilnitsky and chief designer Jaroslav Kalugin).

Marine Engineering Bureau participated actively into conference work, submitted 10 reports concerning the most actual scientific and practical problems of Ukrainian shipbuilding and navigation for discussion of shipbuilding community, as follows:

1. Justification of the parametric line of the passenger cruise vessels for the inland waterways of Russia and Ukraine (authors are G.V. Egorov, I.A. Ilnitsky, J.V. Kalugin).

The parametric line of modern river and river-sea cruise vessels that are of interest to Russian shipping companies (from the passenger vessel of "Volga-Balt max" class, having the length of about 180 meters and the passenger capacity of more than 500 persons to small passenger vessels designed for one-day cruises) was presented.

2. Design of "super fat" mixed river-sea going tankers (authors are G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk).

The accepted principle decisions due to design of "super fat" mixed river-sea going tankers of RST27 project are justified. The new vessel series positive differences from vessels under construction are shown.

3. Justification of the maximum available deadweight of single hold cargo vessel for the Baltic Sea (authors are G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk, E.J. Durnev).

It is shown, that the characteristics of the new multi-purpose dry cargo vessel of DCV36 project of unrestricted navigation area with the length of about 85 m provide the maximum possible deadweight for a vessel of this class with the high ice category. As the result, in spite of the high ice class of DCV36 project good specific technical and economic characteristics were obtained and deadweight is about 5000 tons due to SWL draught (i.e. by 500 tons more than for the competing vessels with the same ice classes; that provides the significant advantages for the DCV36 series at the same cargo lines in the conditions of Northwest and the "north" delivery with non-standard equipment size).

4. Justification of the parametrs of multipurpose 4WT ice navigation salvage vessel (authors are G.V. Egorov, N.V. Avtutov).

The main parametrs of multipurpose 4WT ice navigation salvage vessel of MPSV07 project are justified in the report. The unique multipurpose salvage vessel with a wide range of special purposes functions is created. She is able to work successfully both under the ice conditions in accordance with the Arc 5 class, and under the free water conditions, having good seaworthiness properties and ice passing capability.

5. Justification of characteristic of shallow-draught multi-purpose tugs for northern part of Caspian Sea (authors are G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk, N.N. Kalugina).

The main characteristics of multipurpose shallow-draught tugs of TG05 project for the Northern part of Caspian Sea are presented. The necessity of construction of such vessels is shown. The advantages of shallow draught tugs against large supply vessels are marked.

6. The travel conditions influence upon the main characteristics of "Dnepr-Max" class vessels (author is A.G. Egorov).

The main way restrictions that determine the length, breadth, draught and air draught of the mixed river-sea going vessels of "Dnepr-Max" class are presented. List of these restrictions includes, as follows: the dimensions of the waterway and lock chambers, the dimensions and depth of harbors and berths, the dimensions of approach canals, the height of bridges and power lines, limiting sea access canals restrictions.

7. The features of modern inland and mixed river-sea going barge-tug trains (author is A.G. Egorov).

The history of push trains and the main foreign concepts of them are given in the report. The existing classification of inland, marine and mixed river-sea going push trains are analyzed. The modern classification of push trains on the basis of analysis of existing push trains and methods of their operation is created. The dependence of successful operation of trains and train vessels upon guaranteed freight flow is emphasized.

8. The experience of train ferry design for port of Caucasus (authors are G.V. Egorov, D.V. Chernikov).

The main characteristics of train ferries with account of the conditions of the port of Caucasus (small water depths and restricted water area) are justified in the report. Results presented in the report are used in the projects of the Marine Engineering Bureau for building of seven new train ferries (two ones of 002CNF01 and CNF03 projects and single one of CNF06, CNF09 and CNF10 projects). These train ferries are assigned for work on the lines Varna-Caucasus, Caucasus - Crimea, Caucasus-Poti and Kavkaz - Samsun in the period from 2003 to 2012.

9. The assessment of operation strength and risk of "Volgoneft" type tankers' hulls damages (authors are G.V. Egorov, A.G. Egorov, N.F. Butenko).

The analysis of 169 emergency cases of with "Volgoneft" type vessels of 550, 550A, 558 and 1577 projects was carried out for period from 1991 till 2012. The main dangers that led to accidents as well as for disasters were detected. The steady growth of breakdown for vessels older than 20 years with peak of accidents for 30 years old ones are observed. The main environmental problems of the vessels of "Volgoneft" type are the double bottom height that does not meet the MARPOL requirements, the excess length of the cargo tanks and the absence of slop tanks. In fact, these vessels had no permission for heavy oil and oil products transportation (SG 0.9 or more) since 2008.

It is shown that only three vessels of 1577/550A project were fully re-equipped in accordance with international environmental safety standards. Several decisions of the problems that can "smooth out" the situation for transition period were proposed. Providing safe transportation of oil and oil products by mixed river-sea going tankers is possible only due to the new vessels building.

10. The methods of residual strength assessment for mixed river-sea going dry cargo vessel's damaged hull (author is V.A. Nilva).

The calculation models of mixed river-sea going dry cargo vessel's damaged hull and simplified method of accounting the loss of the part of longitudinal members due to the damage are presented.
