First Kazakh dry cargo vessels of 005RSD03 prj. "Turkestan" and "Beket Ata" started up work

According to information told by press-service of OE Kazakhstan Temir Zholxy, multipurpose vessel "Turkestan" (005RSD03 prj.) departed the Aktau port for her voyage with 5 thousand tons of grain cargo. "Vessel are going to spend 2 days for the voyage and then grain unloading should stat at one of the Caspian ports… Following "Turkestan" the second vessel "Baket Ana" should stand for loading operation. She also are going to transport 5 thousand tons of grain for export.
 
Project 005RSD03 was designed by Marine Engineering Bureau.
 
Both first Kazakh dry cargo vessels of 005RSD03 prj. of "Kareliya" type (deadweight of 5490 t teach) were bought by KTZ daughter enterprise KTZ Express in the December of 2013. This dry cargo vessels should provide cargo transportation of grain and other dry bulk cargoes, packed lumber, metal products and scrap, general, heavy weight and large size cargoes, containers to the Aktau port after transshipment from rail way.
 
It is said at KTZ press release, that "Turkestan" and "Beket Ata" usage ensure 15% (or about 300 thousand tons) of forecast dry cargo transportation through Aktau port in 2014.

They are multipurpose dry cargo river-sea going vessels with deadweight in the sea/river of 5490/3330 tons. Vessels are assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, 8'.5 and 9' ISO containers, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 classes and cargoes of category B of BC Code. Vessels are going to be used on internal waterways of the Russian Federation's European part, including Volga-Don canal and Volga-Baltic way, and also in sea areas according vessel's class, including operation in Baltic, North, Black, Azov, Caspian and Mediterranean Seas.
 
Vessel's Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation is of KM Ice2 R2 AUT3.
 
Overall length is of 108.3 m, length between perpendiculars is of 102.2 m, breadth is of 16.5 m, depth is of 5.5 m.
 
Deadweight is of 5490 tons when sea draught is of 4.792 m. Deadweight is of 3330 tons with the draught of 3.60 m in the river.
 
Total capacity of three cargo holds is of 7840 cub. m.
 
All holds are box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without stowing. The cargo holds' sizes are of 21.45 x 12.7 m (hold No. 1), 27.3 x 12.7 (hold No. 2) and 26.55 x 12.7 m (hold No. 3) while the height is of 8.3 m.
 
Hatch covers are of removable type (with gantry crane of Yuriy Vorobyov project).
 
Crew consists of 9 persons (11 places).
 
Cruising speed is of 11.5 knots. Capacity of main engines is of 2x1020 kWt. Maine engines (medium-speed diesels) for work on heavy fuel with viscosity till 380 cSt (masout).
 
Movement and manoeuvrability of the vessel is provided by two stern full-circle rudder propellers with variable-pitch propeller in nozzles. The drive from main engines to rudder propellers is carried out through mechanical Z-gearing.
 
Designed vessel hull' life term is of 24 years. The ship steel of category RSD with a yield limit of 235 MPa was accepted for basic hull constructions.
 
The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 7.5 t/m2 that allows to use a bucket grab with cargo-lifting capacity 16 tons.
 
Autonomy in sea is of 20 days, in river it is of 15 days.
 
Keel of mv "Turkestan" (building No. 007) was laid down on 10.05.06. She was launched on 15.12.06 and put into operation on 15.05.07.
Keel of mv "Beket Ata" (building No. 011) was laid down on 03.12.07. She was launched on 24.12.08 and put into operation on 15.10.09.
 
Other ten vessels of 005RSD03 prj. of "Kareliya" type are successfully operated by different companies; vessels' voyages include arounf Europe ones.
