Reports at the 5th International Conference "Innovations of shipbuilding and ocean engineering" in Nikolaev

From 8th till 10th of October, 2014 the 5th international scientific and technical conference "Innovations of shipbuilding and ocean engineering" was held in admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (NUS) in Nikolaev.

For the Conference proceeding specialists introduced about 220 reports concerning different tasks of theory and practice of shipbuilding and shipping.

Reports of the Ukraine leading marine specialists were represented during the plenary session. The general director of the Marine Engineering Bureau, professor Gennadiy Egorov introduced report "Advantages of water transport and perspectives for building of river and river-sea vessels".

The Marine Engineering Bureau participated actively in Conference work, there was submitted 12 reports concerning the most actual scientific and practical problems of Ukrainian shipbuilding and shipping for shipbuilding community discussion.

1. Multipurpose dry-cargo river-sea vessels of the "Volgo-Don Max" class of "Neva-Leader" type. Authors are G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk.

RSD49 prj. belongs to "Volgo-Don Max" type due to MEB internal classification. This type is one of the most popular for river-sea vessels. The main advantage of RSD49 prj. is middle hold of 52 m long, that allows large-sized cargo transportation at direct voyages from Europe to Caspian Sea.

2. Concept of mixed river-sea tanker of "New Volgoneft" type. Authors are G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk, E.Yu. Durnev.

Old Soviet "Volgoneft" type tankers personify the whole epoch of native shipbuilding and shipping as one of the first in the world tankers with double bottom and double sides. RST25 tankers that replace "Volgoneft" type ones have enhanced cargo loading capacity and increased strength level.

3. Risk analysis for operation of dry cargo vessels of 21-88 and 21-89 projects. Authors are G.V. Egorov, A.G. Egorov.

Accidents analyze for period 1991-2014 was carried out for dry cargo vessels of 21-88 and 21-89 projects (so-called "Cheshky" vessels). Totally 124 accidents were examined. Main dangers that leaded to accidents or disasters, were defined. The steady growth of breakdown for vessels older than 37 years with peak of accidents for 40-45 years old ones are observed. It's became clear that permeability of watertight hull is the most dangerous.

4. Multifunctional new-generation ice-breakers and salvage ice-breakers. Authors are G.V. Egorov, V.I. Shtrambrandt.

Up-to-date ice-breakers special vessels are created as multifunctional ones. Proper setting of main and additional missions for multifunctional vessel, accepting corresponding prototypes and usage of reliable statistical data allow define combination of optimal hull contours and main particulars at initial design stage. Accepted in such way vessel's characteristics provide high ice-passing capability, adequate still water propulsion and sufficient seakeeping; all this in whole predetermine successful operation of multifunctional arctic vessel.

5. Parametrical Line of Black Sea cargo and cargo-passenger ferries designed by Marine Engineering Bureau. Author is G.V. Egorov.

Accepting of main particulars river- sea vessels is defined by way restrictions and shipowner's strategy. As usually, for tankers the most interesting are the decisions that provide the maximal cargo loading capacity for set conditions.

A parametric line for up-to-date river-sea tankers and combined tanker vessels is accepted. This parametric line will be interesting for post-Soviet shipping companies that operates at native ports.

6. Parametrical Line of Black Sea cargo and cargo-passenger ferries designed by Marine Engineering Bureau. Authors are G.V. Egorov, I.A. Ilnitskiy, D. V. Chernikov.

Description and analyze of existence Black Sea ferry fleet is introduced. A parametric line for railway-passenger and automobile-passenger ferryboats is accepted. These ferryboats should be based at domestic Black Sea terminals.

7. Perspectives of existence river-sea dry cargo vessels. Authors are G.V. Egorov.

Analyze is worked out for domestic river and river-sea dry cargo vessels. The nearest (5-10 years) perspectives for these vessels are shown; available ways for life term prolongation are introduced. It was concluded that ensured keeping the capacities of dry cargoes transportation for long-term perspective may be provided by new vessels building only. Estimation of required number of new vessels for river-sea dry cargoes transportation is given.

8. Analyze of background for development of new generation of river and river-sea vessels for Enisey basin. Authors are G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk.

Results of cargo lines analyze for Enisey basin are introduced. This analyze includes definition of items that are obligatory for solving the outer design problem, such as the main cargo types, points of cargo loading/unloading and transshipping, commercial and operational features of voyages and their duration, etc. Necessity of new vessels building is shown.

9. Analyze of background for development of new generation of river and river-sea vessels for West Siberian region. Authors are G.V. Egorov, V.I. Tonyuk.

Results of cargo lines analyze for West Siberian region are introduced. This analyze includes definition of items that are obligatory for solving the outer design problem, such as the main cargo types, points of cargo loading/unloading and transshipping, commercial and operational features of voyages and their duration, etc. Necessity of new vessels building is shown.

10. Analytical method of geometrical characteristics definition for damaged river or river-sea vessels. Author is V.A. Nilva.

Analytical method of geometrical characteristics definition for damaged vessels is investigated; ability of its usage for river or river-sea vessels is proved. Hulls of "Volgo-Don Max" type vessels of 1577, 507B and RSD44 projects are accepted as investigation objects.

11. Hull weight optimization for RST27 tanker ("VF Tanker" type) of "Volgo-Don Max" class by accepting the optimal sailing class. Author is O.G. Egorova.

The accepted sailing class depends on planning of cargo transportation directions and estimation of possible time loss from weather waiting demurrage. Investigation of hull weight alternation due to sailing region changing is carried out.

12. Analyze of existence coupling devises used in marine and river practice. Author is A.G. Egorov.

Description of rigid, semi-rigid and flexible coupling devises used at tug-barge trains. Semi-rigid coupling devises are recommended for river-sea transportation (e.g. Dnepr - Black Sea - Danube), because existence river rigid and flexible coupling devises don't meet requirements of sailing region, and marine rigid coupling devises have characteristics excess for set sailing region.
