The first dry-cargo vessel of "Azov Max" class was put into operation

On July, 12, 2006 the first dry-cargo vessel with deadweight of 8023 tons of "Azov Max" class was put into operation to the "ALBROS" shipping company.

"Azov Concept" is the vessel's name.

The project RSD12 was designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau.

This vessel is of "Azov XL" type. She was built at Gelibolu shipyard. The project was carried out with active participation of ALBROS colleagues.

The vessel belongs to "Azov Max" type due to MEB internal classification. Principal particulars (overall length is of 142.00 m, overall width is of 18.20 m) are defined by sailing conditions of shallow water at Russian Azov ports without sailing through locks of Volga-Don canal.

Vessel it is optimized for work with draughts of 3.8-4.5 m. With draught of 4.77 m maximum deadweight is of 8023 tons, with draught of 4.50 m deadweight is of 7400 tons.

Vessel "Azov Concept" is a lead one of the series. She is the vessel of the new class - "mouth river" dry-cargo vessel with maximum possible for mentioned sailing conditions dimensions. Absence of requirements on a air draught has allowed to develop essentially more aesthetic high aft superstructure, than on vessels of the river - sea type.

The dry cargo vessel is assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, 8'.5 and 9' ISO containers, dangerous goods of 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 9 classes of IMDG Code and cargoes of category B of BC Code. The vessel has four holds with total capacity of 10930 cub. m. The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 10.0 t/m². Hatch covers are of "folding" type.

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class is of KM LU1 II A1.

Common movement and manoeuvrability of the vessel is provided by two stern full-circle rudder propellers with variable-pitch propeller without nozzles. Medium-speed diesels were chosen as main engines with capacity of 2x1520 kw. Main engines use heavy fuel oil with viscosity of 380cSt. Cruising speed is of 11.0 kn.

Total ballast tank capacity is of 3130 cub. m. Ballast tanks are arranged in side compartments and ends. Double side's breadth is of 2400 mm. Double bottom compartments were foreseen to be dry to shorten the price of future repairs. Double bottom height is of 1200 mm.

Presence of variable-pitch propeller allowed to mount the shaft generators with capacity of 400 kWt each.

Bow thruster capacity is of 350 kWt. Crew consists of 12 persons. Autonomy is of 20 days.

Vessel's keel was laid down on 20.12.04. She was launched on 18.02.06 and was put into operation on 12.07.06.

The second vessel of the series is being built now. There will be four vessels in the series in total.

It is supposed to launch the second vessel at "Gelibolu" shipyard on 15.09.06.
