The first multipurpose dry-cargo vessel of RSD19 project was launched at Volgograd shipyard

On November, 2, 2006 at Volgograd shipyard (Vladimir Prudyus is a general director) which is included in group of the companies "Marine and oil-and-gas projects" (MOP), the first in the series multipurpose twin-screw dry cargo motorship RSD19 prj. "Iran Anzali" was launched. Her deadweight is of 6750 tons.

Series' project of "Khazar" type is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau.

RSD19 prj. vessels have higher class for operation in the sea - I limited and higher standard of hull strength comparing to other vessels of "Volga-Don Max" type which are being built now: prj. 006RSD02 "Nadezhda" type, prj. 006RSD05 "Gejdar Aliev" type, 005RSD06.01 prj. "Chelsea" type.

RSD19 prj. vessel's displacement is the biggest among the dry cargo vessels which satisfy Volga-Don Canal dimension restrictions for today.
RSD19 prj summer loadline displacement is of 9660 tons, which is on 80 tons more than vessels of "Gejdar Aliev" type.

The vessel is assigned for transportation of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, 8'.5 and 9' ISO containers, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 classes of IMDG Code and cargoes of category B of BC Code. Sailing regions are Mediterranean, Caspian, Black, Baltic, White, North Seas, including voyages around Europe and to Irish Sea in winter.

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation of the project is of KM LU2 I A1. The project satisfies all the requirements of international conventions which were actual at the laying down of the vessel's keel.

Vessel belongs to so-called "Volga-Don Max" type due to MEB internal classification. She has maximum possible dimensions for Volga-Don Canal.

With characterized draught of 3.60 m in Volga-Don canal deadweight is about 4340 tons, maximum deadweight in the sea with draught of 4.60 m is of 6750 tons.

Overall length is of 139.95 m, overall breadth is of 16.70 m, breadth without taking into account side fenders is of 16.50 m, depth is of 6.00 m.

Summarized capacity of cargo holds is of 10956 cub.m, total container capacity is of 274 TEU, while holds' container capacity is of 204 TEU.All holds are box-shaped, smooth-wall, convenient for carrying out the freight works and placing a cargo without shifting. The cargo holds' sizes are of 16.25x12.7 (hold No. 1), 29.9x12.7 m (hold Nos. 2, 3), 29.25x12.7 (hold No. 4) with the height of 8.4 m.

Cargo holds are equipped with sectional hatch covers of folding type with possibility of 100% opening.

Design operation speed is of 10.5 knots. Test speed will be of 11.5 knots. Two medium-speed diesels (main engine) of 1200 kWt each use heavy fuel oil with viscosity of IFO380. Heavy fuel stores are placed in deep-tanks in area of the ER fore bulkhead, separated from outside water by double bottom and double sides.

Movement and manoeuvrability of the vessel is provided by two fixed-pitch propellers in nozzles with diameter of 2500 mm, two rudders and single bow thruster.

Modern computing methods of hydrodynamics were used at vessel designing that allowed to find an optimum combination of propulsion-rudder system elements and hull forms. Defined combination provides high running qualities of the vessel. It also provides propulsion coefficient above 0.6 during sailing at full draught and maximum speed due to propeller system of "propeller in the nozzle" type.

Towing and self-running test of vessel model were carried out to check project decisions and definitions of running qualities in big test pool at CNII named for academic A.N.Krylov. Carried out tests fully confirmed earlier received CFD simulation results.

Sea sailing autonomy is of 20 day, river sailing autonomy is of 10 day. Crew consists of 13 persons (16 places).

Designed vessel hull's life term is of 24 years. The double bottom is designed for distributed load intensity of 8.1 t per sq.m, and also allows to use a bucket grab with cargo-lifting capacity 16 tons.

Vessel's "Iran Anzali" (building number is 241) keel was laid down on 27.01.06. She was launched on 02.11.06.

It is supposed to carry out mooring trials and running test in the middle of November 2006.

Four more dry cargo vessels of the
RSD19 project should be built by the terms of the contract during two years since signature has been proceed.
