4MW MPSV07 rescue vessel "Spasatel Demidov" raise plane of the Great Patriotic War times from the sea bottom

As for information from Marine Rescue Service of RosMorRechFlot, on 14.04.2016 multipurpose 4 MW MPSV07 rescue vessel "Spasatel Demidov" has raised attack plane IL-2 from the bottom of the Kerch Straights.

On 13.04.2016 Azov-Black-Sea Branch of FBE "Marine Rescue Service of RosMorRechFlot" together with LLE "Fertoing" started operation for raising planes that were shot down during the Great Patriotic War. Planes were discovered in the autumn 2015. After diving works completing, on 14.04.2016 at 12:30 (Moscow time) crew of the rescue vessel "Spasatel Demidov" successfully fulfilled the finish step of raising attack plane IL-2 from sea bottom onto vessel's deck. There were no pilot's remains in the plane's cabin.

MPSV07 rescue vessel "Spasatel Demidov" is staying at the place of the second plane waiting for the favourable weather for its raising.

As to information from Fontanka, totally 3 Soviet attack planes IL-2 were discovered on the sea bottom. Military historians, finders and journalists take part in the expedition of the Kronshtadt marine museum. Tasks include inspection and safe raising of the discovered planes, defining of names of their crews and a possible reburial of the found remains of the lost pilots. Experts assume that the found planes were shot down in 1943 during Kerch-Eltigen landing operation. The final identification of planes, remains of their crews and circumstances of their death will be carried out in Gelendzhik by representatives of military-patriotic club "Podvig".

"Spasatel Demidov" is a unique multifunctional salvage vessel by her equipment and available technology; she was built in 2015 at Nevskiy Shipyard (Eugeniy Kuznetsov is a director) due to the order of FSUC "State Customer Management of Maritime Transport Development Programs" of the Federal Agency of Maritime and River Transport of the Russian Federation. Vessel was built in behalf of Marine Rescue Service of RosMorRechFlot.

Vessel's project was designed by Marine Engineering Bureau.

As it was told earlier, flag rising solemn ceremony was carried out onboard m/v "Spasatel Demidov" in the Novorossiysk on 11.03.2015.
