Overall Results of North-West shipping Company in first quarter of 2016, which includes 7 RSD49 prj. vessels

According to the press-service of OJSC "North-West Shipping Company" (NWSC, is included in the UCL Holding), income from freight activity of the company occupies 90% of the total income; this income grew by 3% up to 1.86 milliard rubles compared to the same period of 2015. To increase more profitable transportations, NWSC relocated part of its fleet from Baltic and North Seas to the area of Black and Mediterranean Seas. During the pointed period, 26 vessels worked in the southern basin, including 7 multi-purpose RSD49 "Neva-Leader" dry cargo vessels built in 2012-2013 by Neva Shipyard.

In total, in the first quarter of 2016 the total capacity of transportations made by NWSC was 1.27 million tons, or by 5% less than the last year. The capacity drop down was caused by increasing transportation of high yield cargoes; while transporting these cargoes vessels worked without cargo at back voyages.

Despite the decreasing of operational ratings, rising of freight activity income in covered period took place as a result of effective fleet control in transportations.

About 70% of total income during the covered period was made by transporting of grain, timber, chemical and mineral fertilizers, production and scrap of ferrous metals.

As a whole, transportation's structure of NWSC hasn't changed in first quarter of 2016. Vessels transported:

• grain cargo - 420 thousand tons (+47%);
• ferrous metals - 182 thousand tons (-25%);
• chemical and mineral fertilizers - 283 thousand tons (-10%);
• coal - 112 thousand tons (-17%);
• non-ferrous metals - 60 thousand tons (+36%)
• timber - 45 thousand tons (-32%);
• other cargo - 164 thousand tons.

The most part of transportation (872 thousand tons or 68.8%) amounted export cargoes, showing an increase 2%. The following cargoes amounted the main nomenclature of export:

• grain cargo - 347 thousand tons (+41.6%);
• ferrous metals - 162 thousand tons (-23.6%)
• coal - 103 thousand tons (-19%)
• chemical and mineral fertilizers - 172 thousand tons (+63.8%)
• non-ferrous metals - 37 thousand tons (+63.8%).

Transportations between foreign ports amounted 346 thousand tons or 27% of total amount; it decreased by 18% mainly due to decreasing of the main cargoes of segment: timber, ferrous/non-ferrous metals and fertilizers.

Import dropped down by 8% to 46 thousand tons due to cargo flow reduction of ferrous metals, construction materials and fertilizers to Russia from Europe. Import transportation part has amounted 3.6% of the total transportation capacity in first quarter of 2016.

The lead RSD49 vessel "Neva-Leader 1" was accepted for operation on 26.11.12, the seventh one "Neva-Leader 7" was accepted for operation on 23.12.13.

Neva Shipyard is a Builder.

RSD49 prj. is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau.

RSD49 vessels refer to the "Volga-Don Max" type due to MEB internal classification. They have maximum possible dimensions for Volga-Don canal. Vessels of the series can be operated for transportations of general, bulk, timber, grain and large-sized cargoes, dangerous goods of 1.4S, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.1, 8, 9 classes of IMDG Code and cargoes of category B of BC Code. Sailing regions are Mediterranean, Caspian, Black, Baltic, White, North Seas, including voyages around Europe and to Irish Sea in winter.

RSD49 vessel's feature is a big middle hold of 52 m long as diversity from all other "Volga-Don Max" type projects designed by MEB. This hold allows to transportation of large-sized cargoes in direct voyages from Europe to Caspian Sea; such point should significantly increase economic effect of vessels' operation.

Vessel was designed for Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class notation of KM Ice2 R2 AUT1-C.

RSD49 vessels' are the biggest ones among the dry cargo vessels that satisfy Volga-Don canal dimensions for today such as prototype RSD19 vessels.

With characterized draught of 3.6 m in Volga-Don canal deadweight is about 4520 tons, maximal deadweight in the sea with draught of 4.70 m is of 7143 tons. Overall length is of 139.95 m, overall breadth is of 16.70 m, breadth without side fenders is of 16.50 m, depth is of 6.00 m. Summarized capacity of cargo holds is of 10920 cub. m.
