As for site of the Volga State University of Water Transport (VSUWT) on March, 4, 2020 in VSUWT open lecture of the professor, Sc. D, the general director of the Marine Engineering Bureau Gennadiy Egorov has taken place.
 
Gennady Egorov speaks to students, masters and post-graduate students of shipbuilding, hydraulic engineering and environment protection faculties not for the first time. A subject of this year first lecture became multipurpose vessels: rescue, supply and fishery ones.
 
He was succeed to tell simply and interestingly about designing of complex vessels.
 
"Struggle of ideas and joining of unjoinable", - so the lecturer has characterized specificity of designers' work when it is necessary to integrate set of functions in a single vessel. Ice breaker IBSV01 "Alexandr Sannikov" became a vivid example, vessel is operating at the Northern Sea Route. This vessel combines a set of functions: fire extinguishing, rescue of people, oil spill combating, towage of vessels and marine floating constructions, etc. The basic operational requirements are impressive too: sufficient ice-passing, still water running ability, seaworthiness, positioning. Today designers have to attempt titanic efforts in order to make impossible to possible, finding an escape from desperate situations. When different experts and departments make demands and conclusions contradicting each other, it is necessary to search for graceful design decisions and original compromises.
 
Worldwide tendencies on construction of multipurpose vessels were picked up also by Russia, and the Nizhniy Novgorod Region. Today the unique chance is given to the future shipbuilders: to observe and participate in construction of multipurpose and fishery vessels. For example, the Nizhniy Novgorod Shipyard "Krasnoe Sormovo" has got the order for 5 newest crabbers KSP01 "Zenith". Multipurpose marine diving catamaran vessel "Igor Il'in" was constructed at Oka Shipyard.
 
Therefore Gennadiy Egorov has characterized a situation in shipbuilding of the Region as a restart, such complex vessel have not been built for many years; this is an original challenge of time.
 
What is common between a crabber and an ice-breaker? It appears - multifunctionality. Modern fishery vessels are the powerful floating factory, capable to make huge profit, therefore arrangement of details and units it is thought over down to millimeter. New crabbers surpass old Soviet fishery vessels by efficiency in several times. Construction of such modern vessels is an example of the state regulation: giving quotas for crab catching, the state demands to place orders for fishery fleet construction at domestic shipyards which are tightened to Norwegian and Japanese levels and already surpass them at some directions. There are less crew, essentially more productivity and profit, more tax charges.
 
Lecture was undoubtedly interested for students and employees of the leading transport university of the Volga region which has dealt with shipbuilders' learning since 1939. These walls were graduated by outstanding designers, heads of the enterprises and the design organizations, - engineers from the big letter. Shipbuilders' learning is going to be started again by specialist program at 2020. 25 budgetary places are waiting for the students at entrance examination campaign this year. This will allow to expand and essentially increase time for teaching special disciplines, to expand geography of industrial practices, to make degree projects more interesting.
